How to change the password in Moodle?

There are many ways to change the password in Moodle. In Moodle, steps to change your password are relatively straightforward.

Change your password after logging in to your own account

  1. Log in to Moodle by entering your credentials and accessing your Moodle account.
  2. Access Profile Settings - After logging in, click on the profile settings icon, usually represented by an arrow.
  3. Click on the 'Profile' option, and it will redirect you to your profile description page.
  4. Now, click on the Edit Profile


5. Change password - You can enter your new password in the textbox as highlighted below.

6. Click on the Update Profile button at the end of the edit profile page.



Changing the password of any user

An admin can change the password of any user by going to the user listing page and searching for the user using their email or username. Once the user is found, the admin can reset their password.


Here's a general guide:

1. Log in to Moodle by entering your credentials and accessing your Moodle account.
2. After login, click on Site Administrator


3. Click on Users tab then click on Browse list of users

 






4. You can filter out users based on the provided search criteria. For example, let's search for a user with a specific email address.


 

5. Click on Add Filter
6. Now, you have found the user you were looking for.
7. Now, click on the full name as highlighted above. After clicking on it, you will be redirected to the profile page of that particular user.



8. Click on 'Edit Profile,' and it will redirect you to the profile editing page. You can enter your new password and save the form.




Note - Remember to keep your password secure and avoid using easily guessable information such as your name or birthdate.
